Thoughts on motor scooters?

Okay, my dream is to own a motor scooter:) Well, one of my dreams... Anyway, the people I know are amused by that idea and call motor scooters gay and a waste to buy. I really want one so that I can go places on my own and not have to pay so much for a car. Plus, they are really fascinating to me. Anyway, I just want to know what some peoples thoughts are of motor scooter. Thanks!
